The Canton of Westgate was formed in 1990 as Dun
Bruadair. Founding members included Rhodri ap Gwythyr, William Miesko
(the Bear), and Philomeena of Morningscourt. Through the coming years,
it would be known as Dun Bruadail and Dun Brothain as well. None of the
names ever passed the College of Heralds. In 1997, Baroness Hillary Rose
Greenslade took over as seneschal of the group. In 1998, both the name
(Westgate) and the device (gules, a portcullis within a laurel wreath a
chief embattled or) were officially registered by the College of
Heralds.
Westgate hosts kingdom-wide events regularly and several years ago
hosted a known world event. The selection of such a comparatively small
group to host these large, important events reflects the trust of
Ansteorra and the known world in Westgate.
Lady Brenna MacDonald is the immediate past seneschal of Westgate. |
