History of Ansteorran Awards, Insignia, and Precedence
Have you ever wondered where all of Ansteorra's awards come from? Why the insignia for the Iris is a rainbow ribbon, not a flower? What the difference is between an award and an order? This lecture class will present an historical survey of Ansteorra's awards and orders, explaining their evolution, insignia, and context, as well as briefly discussing Ansteorra's ceremonial offices (Queen's Champion, King's Champion, etc.) and the Society-wide ranks and orders (royalty, nobility, & peerage). We'll use visual aids, and possibly provide a handout. The handout is NOT a substitute for attending class.

Silk Banner Painting
Spend the day learning the art of silk painting. This class is designed for groups of people (Baronies, Fighting companies, Households, etc) to work together to start and hopefully finish a project over the course of a day. I will teach all the basic techniques for painting a heraldic banner.
  1. 2 silk pieces from Dharma Trading Company (http://www.dharmatrading.com) - one of these is a back-up in case of accident. Some ideas:
  2. 1 frame for the silk to be stretched on. (once your group is on the reservation list, I will help you determine what size your frame needs to be. Frame is made of 2X4s, screws and L brackets)
  3. Design for your banner
    • Printed Heraldic art sized for your banner (heraldic art should be use strong lines without a lot of fine detail - think coloring book or stained glass)
  4. A way to stretch your silk one of the following ways (I will discuss the proper style of stretching for your silk piece once you are on the list)

Length for the Class is 8 hours. This is an all day project from start to finish
